Angels star Mike Trout missed Los Angeles' 4-2 road loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday due to a bruised right wrist, and an MRI exam displayed inflammation but no ligament or bone damage, according to the team.

Trout was listed as day-to-day by the Angels, but he likely rates as questionable for the series opener in Cleveland on Friday.

"I'll get as much treatment as I can," Trout told reporters. "I'll see how it goes, and hopefully I'll be back in there (on Friday)."

Trout said he sustained the injury during the Angels' Wednesday loss while attempting to steal third base.

"When I slid into third base, I caught my hand," Trout said. "Kind of weird. Felt like I just jammed it pretty bad. We taped it and tried to do as much as we could during the game (Wednesday), but when I woke up, it was pretty sore."

The game was only the second Trout has missed this season. He is batting .309 with 30 homers, 60 RBIs and 21 steals in 109 games.

Last season, Trout missed six-plus weeks after tearing a ligament in his thumb on a head-first slide into second base. He pulled out of the All-Star Game and returned to action after the break.
