A non-profitable trust has urged the Odisha government to conduct a National Register of Citizens survey in the state.

Bharat Raksha Manch (BRM), a non-profitable trust demanded that an NRC survey on the line of Assam be done in the state to find out the number of Bangladeshis illegally residing in the state.

BRM president Murali Manohar Sharma said, "Odisha with its long porous coastline has been the favorite spot for illegal Bangladeshis." Meanwhile, ADGP (Coastal Security) P B Acharya said that the SPs of coastal districts have been told to keep a vigil on the possible influx of outsiders through sea route.
