Orlando City and New England Revolution keen to end losing streak
The Iraqi delegation is paying their first visit to the Palestinian territories. They crossed into the Israeli-occupied West Bank from Jordan.
Both Orlando City SC and the New England Revolution are eager to end their respective three-game losing streaks as they head into Saturday's match at Orlando City Stadium. For the home side, however, the sense of urgency is reaching critical levels after a lengthy slump.
With 12 losses in their last 13 games, Orlando City (7-14-1, 22 points) has fallen to ninth place in the Eastern Conference. While the Lions have, at times, looked to be in better form than their recent record indicates, this has only increased their frustration over the lack of success.
"It's so hard for us to lose all these kinds of games. ... It's hard when you play good and you deserve the win but you lose," Orlando City's Mohamed El-Munir said. "No matter what the reason was, but it's always going to be hard. We don't have much time anymore so we're going to keep pushing. We're going to keep working hard on the field and try to get the result with the performance."
New England (7-7-7, 28 points) is currently sitting in the sixth and final Eastern playoff spot, and its own struggles have kept it from pulling away from Orlando City and other clubs outside the postseason hunt. The Revolution has just two wins over their last 11 matches and head to Orlando looking for just their second road victory all season.
The Revolution will have the benefit of some extra rest, as the team is coming off a bye week. Forward Teal Bunbury described the break as "a nice week to work on a few things, tweak a few things and kind of get a little bit sharper."
Newly-signed Bolivian midfielder/defender Cristhian Machado will be available for selection on Saturday, though Revolution head coach Brad Friedel didn't guarantee that Machado would necessarily be in the Starting XI.
"He could potentially be in the mix," Friedel said. "We'll assess his fitness, but generally his fitness looks very good. I'm sure he'll be involved in the weekend."
