A local court today rejected the anticipatory bail application of a temple priest accused of molesting two women.

The two women, hailing from Mumbai, had filed a police complaint alleging that they were molested by Dhananjay Bhave, a priest of the famous Mangueshi Temple in Ponda, about 20 kilometers from here, during a visit in June.

Additional District and Sessions Court in Ponda rejected Bhave's application after it was informed by the police that the priest was absconding since the case was registered against him.

The women had first approached the Temple Committee to complain against Bhave but were told that there was no "dependable evidence" on the basis of which action could be taken against him.
