Rain lashed different parts of Punjab and Haryana today, providing relief from humid weather conditions.

Maximum temperatures also fell several notches below normal in many parts of both the states.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 25.4 degrees Celsius, seven notches below normal.

The city received rainfall of 16.6 mm, the Met department said.

In Haryana, Ambala witnessed 5 mm of rainfall with maximum settling at 26.2 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal.

Bhiwani, Hisar, and Karnal recorded maximum temperature at 32.2, 30.2 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively, up to seven notches below normal. Hisar and Karnal received 0.3 and 23 mm of rainfall.

Narnaul's maximum was 32.7 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum was 31.9 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded their respective high at 28.6 and 26.8 degrees Celsius, up to seven notches below normal.

According to the Met department, light to moderate rain may occur at many places in both states in the next 24 hours.
