Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen revealed that the formation of the new government has been scheduled to be completed by early next month. He said this after his meeting with the king and discussion with the legal officers.

The Prime Minister while addressing the 18,000 garment workers in Kampong Speu province’s Chebar Mon city today said that he has asked the King Norodom Sihamoni to prepone the date of opening of the National Assembly's first session from September 19 to September 5, 2018.

He said: "I would like to send the message to all Cambodian people that I met the King yesterday, asking him to change a date to open the National Assembly’s session and to form a new government."

He further added: "The National Assembly’s opening session will take place on September 5 and elected lawmakers will take oaths in the evening." "The heads of the National Assembly will be elected on Thursday, September 6 and a new government will be created, too. The government will take oaths in the evening."

He also said that the first meeting of the Council of Minister will happen on Friday morning, September 7.

The reason for speeding up the process is to facilitate his attendance at the United Nations General Assembly on behalf of the new government. Cambodia, this year, is going to play the role as vice chairman of the United Nations.
