State Owned Enterprises to provide free electric connection to underprivileged residents in Jakarta

The Ministries of Energy and Mineral Resources and State-Owned Enterprises have joined hands with dozens of state-owned companies with an aim of accelerating a program of increased electrification ratios.

The thirty five State Owned Enterprises are PLN, Telkom, BRI, Pertamina, Bank Mandiri, BNI, Angkasa Pura II, Pelindo III, BTN, Pupuk Indonesia, Wijaya Karya, PT PP, PGN, Waskita Karya, Pegadaian, PTPN III, Antam, Jasa Marga, Jasa Raharja, Taspen, Airnav, Askrindo, Jasindo, ASDP Indonesia, Bulog Public Corporation, Jamkrindo, Biofarma, Semen Indonesia, Hutama Karya, Kereta Api Indonesia, Dahana, Perhutani, Pindad, and Pos Indonesia.

In the Office of Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) recently an agreement was signed between state electricity company, PT PLN (Persero) and SOEs.

The agreement was witnessed by Minister of SOE, Rini Soemarno and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ignasius Jonan.

Minister Ignatius Jonan said: "There is no budget this year for programs like this in the State Budget, so the role of these SOE is very helpful."

At present, the electrification ratio of West Java Province is 96.79 percent. The households without electricity amount to 334,260.

The underprivileged households will get assistance from the free electricity connection program and will be getting PLN electricity connection of  450 Volt-Ampere (VA) at subsidized rates and a prepaid service system.
