Industry body Indian Chamber of

Commerce (ICC) today launched its Southern Regional Council

here.

Telangana, with its vast potential, offers a unique

advantage to the chamber to extend its functioning in

the State, chairman of the council Rajiv Reddy said on the

occasion.

Over the years, the initiatives of the chamber have been

supported and attended by ministers, regulators, industry

captains and civil society enriching the body with their

insights, he said.

"I believe with the support of dynamic leaders from the

State, we will continue our initiatives in the sectors of

agriculture, food processing, infrastructure, technology,

manufacturing, services, pharma and healthcare," he said.

The chamber, in its endeavour to play a pro-active role in

the development of the country, would work closely with the

governments in the southern States on policy issues impacting

the industry and on policy advocacy for State-level reforms,

he said.

State Industries Minister K T Rama Rao said the

government would work closely with the chamber, for which

a consultative committee can be set up.

Talking about the industrial policy of TS-iPASS

(Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and

Self-Certification System), he said the State has given

clearance to 6,700 units and attracted 20 billion

USD as investment in the last three years.

Immediate past president of the chamber Shashwat Goenka

also spoke.
