According to Swiss educationist Christen Wassmer, Ghanian education sector needs to inculcate creativity in students to explore their minds and tap their potential.

A school trainer by profession, the initiator of Plastic Bag Action Day which was observed at Elisha Preparatory School in Navrongo in Kassena Nankana Municipal in February. In his observations, he said that the school followed a strict curriculum which hampered with their overall growth.

Their strict rules did not allow the students to have a space of their own and restricted their creativity.

In her interview with Ghana News Agency, Wassmer pointed towards the difference in the behavior of kids. The kids when left alone went into a state of helplessness and did not do anything to change the situation.

According to her tapping of their potential is important as it links them with nature and makes their expression more communicable.

Along with child’s development, she also talked about hazards of plastic in the community and called for an intensification of community sanitization on environmental issues.

The initiative by Elisha Preparatory School was a bold step made to create plastic awareness in communities and to help children to learn about dangerous environmental elements.
