The Greatest Show on Earth: FIFA World Cup Russia 2018
The world is looking forward for dreams to unfold and on June 14 as the greatest show on earth kicks off, 4 billion football fans will live their moments of life.
Football is not just a game, it’s a way of life. As Dutch football legend, Johan Cruyff, puts it “To win you have to put the ball inside the opponent’s goal, and you have to score one more goal than your opponent.” It is a simple game.
This month, football fiesta is going to be held in Russia. There the football players will be getting a taste of Russian soil and weather conditions. However, the weather will be a lesser concern for the players when they will play inside the world-class stadiums of Russia fully packed with the insane crowd. The crowd may make deafening noise in their support for the teams. And for those moments every individual player on the ground will be giving everything for their nation and the hysterical crowd.
Every player knows that a million pair of eyes will be following them: every twist and turn they make in the playing time; and every move they make on the ground. When the audience fixes their eyes on them waiting to see what they can provide; that moment will be a moment of magic for the global spectators. A moment of glory and history which every football fan wants to cherish for the rest of their life. But, it is up to the players to provide that moment of awe.
Be it Maradona’s “Hand of God”, or Zidane’s famous head-butt to Marco Materazzi, or be it Brazilian legend Pele’s sublime skills with the ball; these cannot be labeled as a pedestrian roadshow, but, they are one of the beautiful moments of football history. This year too fans from all over the world will be in Russia to witness such rare moments of history; moments of magic indeed.
The Stage is set to provide entertainment for a lifetime for fans of football. People are waiting to see which team is capable of calling itself the World Champion again. And, the wait will be over when the 32 teams face each other, at the 12 beautifully architected stadiums of Russia.
While, there are young forces like Jesse Lingard, Alex Iwobi, Marcus Rashford, who will be witnessing the World Cup ambiance for the first time; there are also veterans like Rafael Marquez, who will be living the moment for the fifth time. Will it be Messi or will it be Ronaldo? To end this never-ending debate of who is the real “Greatest of all Time (GOAT)” we need to wait till 15th July 2018. No doubt, both of them are still waiting for the World Cup glory.
Five-time World Cup winner Brazil will also get their chance to redeem themselves. If they face Germany, who humiliated them in the last edition of FIFA World Cup. Wounds of that 7-1 loss would still be fresh inside the memories of every Brazilian. Without a doubt, it still haunts the Brazilian players. While Neymar Jr. will be waiting to prove his 240 million transfer fee, he will also try and prove what it would have been, if he was there in the team against Germany on that fateful day.
While in the middle east, the whole of Egypt will be praying only for one thing: to see Mohammad Salah play in the world Cup. And along with Egypt, the whole world to waits for the power of these prayers.
Iceland and Panama are debutants in this World Cup, and both the teams are dreaming of leaving a lasting impression in Russia.
The world is looking forward for those dreams to unfold and on June 14 as the greatest show on earth kicks off, 4 billion football fans will live the moments of their lives.
