World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 15 June
Elder abuse is a global social problem that affects the health and human rights of millions of older people around the world.
It is expected that virtually all countries will experience substantial growth in the number of older people between 2015 and 2030, and this growth will be faster in developing regions.
Because the number of older people is increasing, we can expect the number of older people to increase with it. While the taboo theme of elder abuse is gaining visibility worldwide, it remains one of the least studied types of violence in national surveys and one of the least addressed in national action plans.
Elder abuse is a global social problem that affects the health and human rights of millions of older people around the world and deserves the attention of the international community.
In resolution 66/127, the General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed June 15 as the World Day of Awareness of Abuse of the Elderly.
It represents the day of the year when everyone expresses their opposition to the abuse and suffering inflicted on some of our previous generations
