For the first time in his mandate, the President of the Republic met the Council of the Republic. The points that were discussed in the meetings were internal security and worse agriculture year.

Jorge Carlos Fonseca said at a press conference, after the end of the meeting, that the country must be prepared for the lack of water and find ways to reuse wastewater to lessen the effects of lack of rain in the country.

The President of the Republic said that the plan is being executed; there may be even greater agility and speed in the execution of some of its components. He continued saying that the lesson he wanted to draw is that, in the face of this type of events, there should not be a permanent attitude that we are creating successive emergency plans, that is, seeing the drought not as an emergency but as a natural fact in a country like Cape Verde.

He said that the debate provided a reflection to the matter and it was beyond the emergency plan established by the government to face the bad agricultural year.

Another issue that was under discussion during the Council of the Republic was that of internal security.

Jorge Carlos Fonseca, questioned about the recent cases of disappearance of children in the city of Praia, revealed that there were no answers of details.
