Wilton Park is hosting an event aimed at Addressing the needs of adolescent girls in humanitarian settings in the United Kingdom on July 2-4, 2018. Entry to the event is by invite only.

This meeting aims to address the specific needs of adolescent girls in humanitarian settings. It will bring together a cross section of various communities, including humanitarian, family planning, education, youth, health, government (especially from the global south) and international development communities in an attempt to forge collaboration and explore effective multi-sectoral approaches, placing adolescent girls themselves at the heart of discussions.

Globally, 50% of the 1.4 billion people living in countries impacted by crises and fragility are under the age of 20. Protracted crises significantly disrupt services, making it difficult for adolescent girls (aged 10-19) to gain access to services tailored to their needs.

They are particularly vulnerable when it comes to sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage and other harmful traditional practices (HTPs).
