People in Rembrandtplein, Spui, and Leidseplein celebrate it by wearing orange. The color is a sign of happiness.
The streets go unregulated and wild. Thousands of beautifully decorated boats can be seen at the Amsterdam Canal. People follow the philosophy “Shop Till You Drop”. Kids have a gala time and old also try to recall their childhood as games like face-painting, sports are some of its attractions. It's like a big party in the Netherlands.
While the majority of museums are closed on King’s Day, Van Gough Museum, Anne Frank House, Stedelijk Museum and Rijksmuseum remain open for visitors.
King’s day was celebrated in Amsterdam for the first time in the year 2014. It marked the inauguration of King-Willem Alexander on 30th April.2018.
A sea of orange and celebration near the Amsterdam are some of its key highlights.
Most popular venues are Westerstraat, Prinsengracht, and Reguliersdwarsstraat. The event starts at 0900 hrs and concludes at 2000 hrs.
