A court here today sentenced nine persons to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with the killing of a man over construction of a toilet at Satgama village in Jharkhand's Palamau district.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them.

The court of District and Session Judge Shatrunjay Kumar Singh delivered the judgement, sentencing nine persons to 10-years rigorous imprisonment for the death of Ramvilas Thakur on May 1, 2014.

According to the FIR, one group was constructing a toilet on a private land when the other group raised objection, leading to a clash between the two in which Thakur suffered grievous injuries.

Thakur succumbed to his injuries over a fortnight later in Rajendra Institute of Medical Science in Ranchi.
