South African batsman AB De Villiers retires from Cricket

It is not about gaining more in other places. It's about running out of speed and feeling the time to move on, says De Villiers.

South African star AB de Villiers has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. AB de Villiers announced the decision through a video message on his Twitter handle. "I've made a big decision today," said De Villiers' Twitter message.

Hi, it's the Tux Cricket Club, the high performance center in Pretoria, where I arrived as a nervous young man when I was first called to the Proteas team 14 years ago today, in the same place, I want to let you know that I decided to retire from any international cricket with immediate effect, De Villiers said in the attached video message.  

"After 114 tests, 228 ODI, 78 T20I, it's time for others to take over, I had my turn and to be honest, I'm tired, it's a difficult decision, I thought a lot."

The fantastic victorious series against India and Australia, has When it's time to retire, it would not be good for me to choose where and when and in what format to play for the Proteas, for me in green and gold It must be all or nothing, I will always be grateful to my teammates, coaches and the staff of Cricket South Africa for its support over these years, said De Villiers.

For cricket fans in South Africa and around the world, thank you very much for your kindness, your generosity and today for your understanding. I hope to continue to be available to the Titans in the national cricket, and I will continue to be the greatest defender of Faf Du Plessis and Proteas, hank you, said the legendary batsman.

AB de Villiers, who made his international debut in 2004 against England in Port Elizabeth, represented South Africa in 114 events, 228 ODI, and 78 T20I. The right-hander has 8765 tests, 9577 ODI and 1672 T20I running in his name. In his career of 114 tests, the veteran South African batsman obtained 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries at an average of 50.66.
