Air Liquide will invest more than EUR 900 million in the construction of a plant in Novokuznetsk, Russia, Interim spokesman Sergei Tsivilev told Kemerovo Interim Governor Kemerovo on Monday.

The Russian subsidiary of the French industrial gas specialist announced last Thursday the signing of a long-term contract to supply oxygen, nitrogen and argon to Russian steelmaker Evraz in Novokuznetsk, Siberia.

Air Liquide then mentioned an investment of around 130 million euros for the construction of two air separation units on site.

Air Liquide S.A., is a French multinational company which supplies industrial gases and services to various industries including medical, chemical and electronic manufacturers.

Novokuznetsk is the largest city in the Kemerovo region of Russia. It is located in the south of Western Siberia, on both banks of the Tom River, in the southern part of the region. It is an important economic, transport and cultural centre of Siberia.

The population of Novokuznetsk is about 550,000.
