The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired infielder Eduardo Escobar from the Minnesota Twins for three minor leaguers, the teams announced Friday.

Minnesota receives right-hander Jhoan Duran and outfielders Gabriel Maciel and Ernie De La Trinidad in the deal.

The 29-year-old Escobar is batting .274 with 15 homers and 63 RBIs. He has a .514 slugging percentage and leads the majors with 37 doubles.

Escobar is on the way to surpassing last season's career highs of 21 homers and 73 RBIs. He has a .256 career average with 63 homers and 287 RBIs in 716 games with the Chicago White Sox (2011-12) and Twins.

Minnesota filled the roster opening by recalling 2017 All-Star Miguel Sano from Triple-A Rochester.

Sano was demoted on June 14 after batting .203 with seven homers and 27 RBIs in 37 games. He hit .264 with 28 homers and 77 RBIs in 114 games last season before his campaign was shortened by a shin injury.

In addition to acquiring Escobar, who will join the team Saturday in San Diego, the Diamondbacks recalled infielder Ildemaro Vargas from Triple-A Reno, placed third baseman Jake Lamb (left shoulder contusion) on the 10-day disabled list and designated infielder Jack Reinheimer for assignment.

Vargas was batting .300 with four homers and 43 RBIs at Reno, Lamb is batting .222 with six homers and 31 RBIs with Arizona and Reinheimer hit .237 with three homers and 21 RBI in 50 games at Reno.

All three prospects the Twins obtained from the Diamondbacks were playing for Class A Kane County.

The 20-year-old Duran was 5-4 with a 4.73 ERA in 15 starts, the 19-year-old Maciel was batting .287 with one homer and 16 RBIs and the 22-year-old De La Trinidad was batting .311 with eight homers and 56 RBIs.
