Telangana has been able to attract major investments into the state over the last three years, state Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said here today.

Rao, who spoke at the CII Southern Region Council meeting, said the industrial investment has led to direct and indirect employment generation on a large scale, according to a state government release.

"He (Rao) also highlighted the government's efforts in boosting the investment by developing sector-specific industrial parks focusing on pharma, medical devices, aerospace and defense, MSME, textiles, food processing among others," it said.

"Stressing on Hyderabad being the second largest IT hub in the country, he said that IT industry grew by 13 percent in the last year in the state as against 9 percent nationally," the release said.

Rao also explained the various development and welfare schemes, including "Rythu Bandhu" farmers' investment support scheme and the insurance scheme for farmers, "Mission Kakatiya" water rejuvenation, undertaken by the state government, it added.
