Assam police arrests hardcore militant of PDCK

A hardcore Peoples Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK) militant was apprehended today in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, police said.

A release from the police here said that based on specific input regarding the presence of the hardcore PDCK cadre in Sarpo Terang gaon, under Diphu PS, an operation was launched today by a team from Diphu Police Station.

In the operation spanning over six hours, which involved crossing five steep mountains, the police team succeeded in apprehending the PDCK cadre identified as Horen Bey.

After interrogation, the insurgent led the team to a dense location named 'ATUR THEPI hillock' and showed the team objectionable items he had buried under the ground, the release said.

The items recovered included one muzzle loaded gun (hand-made), one magazine (made of steel) of AK-series rifle, 139 live AK series ammunition, five mobile SIM cards, one micro SD memory card and an Internet Dongle, it added.

Earlier on July 21, police in the district in a gunbattle with PDCK was successful in causing serious damage to the armed outfit at Bokaram Tokbi Gaon under Dolamara Police station wherein armed cadres of the PDCK, formed in October 2016, were chased successfully.

During the search operation in the area, one HK 33 rifle, 70 rounds ammunition, two magazines of the rifle, two mobile phone sets, one knife, torch and a bag were recovered.
