The Oakland Athletics placed utility man Chad Pinder on the 10-day disabled list on Sunday with an elbow laceration, the team announced.

The move is retroactive to July 28.

In a corresponding move, the A's recalled infielder Franklin Barreto from Triple-A Nashville.

It's the second DL stint this season for Pinder, 26, who was batting .259 with 10 home runs and 23 runs in 71 games.

Barreto, 22, makes his fifth appearance with the A's this season. He's hitting .214 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 20 games with Oakland this season.
