After an explosion at a Hydro One transmission station in the northwest of Toronto, at least 1300 customers were deprived of power.

Municipal Electricity distribution company, Toronto Hydro announced the power cut after the explosion.

Further, it is reported that almost 35,000 customers were without power as outrage peaked on Saturday’s morning.

The current situation puts a strain on the distribution system and it becomes a tough task for the Toronto Hydro officials to reroute power around the city.

The spokesperson of Toronto Hydro, Tori Gass says that the company will try to bring back power to the customer even if Hydro One isn’t able to restore power in time. The equipment basically will have to do double duty, she added.

The company, she said has cut the power to reduce the load as she fears any damage to the equipment if people were allowed to use it.
