Ministry of Environment and Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) has organised a campaign called 'Beat Plastic Pollution Walk' during Car Free Day on June 3. People of Rwanda will walk in the campaign aimed at raising awareness to address plastic pollution.
The 2018 National Environment Week is being observed in Rwanda along with World Environment Day to encourage public to address the rising pollution that threatens the health and well-being of people.
National Environment Week was launched on May 29 and concludes on June 5, a high level policy conference was held as a part of it on May 29 along with a nationwide inspection of the illegal use of plastic bags and various activities to address the rising problem of pollution.
Rwanda has been raising awareness from more than a decade about benefits of living without disposable plastic bags to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
