Following is a summary of current sports news briefs.

Chiefs hold off Broncos, stay unbeaten

Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes engineered two fourth-quarter touchdown drives Monday, passing for 304 yards as the Chiefs outlasted the host Denver Broncos 27-23. Trailing 23-13, Kansas City's flashy first-year starter sparked his first comeback as a pro, then handed to running back Kareem Hunt, who crashed in for a 4-yard touchdown with 1:39 remaining.

Brewers top Cubs, win NL Central

Orlando Arcia led off the eighth inning with the third of his four hits and trotted home on Lorenzo Cain's go-ahead single two batters later, delivering the Milwaukee Brewers the National League Central title with a 3-1 tie-breaker victory over the host Chicago Cubs on Monday afternoon. NL batting champion Christian Yelich had three hits, and five Milwaukee pitchers combined to three-hit the Cubs, assuring the Brewers (96-67) the best record in the NL and home-field advantage at least through the NL Championship Series.

Irving regrets ever calling Earth 'flat'

A year and a half after rattling the NBA world and beyond by saying he had no doubt that the Earth was flat, Boston Celtics star point guard Kyrie Irving says he regrets ever bringing up the topic. "I'm sorry about all that," Irving said Monday, speaking at the Forbes Under 30 Summit in Boston. He said he often hears from irate science teachers who tell him, "You know, I gotta reteach my whole curriculum!"

Take 5: Biggest weaknesses for NL playoff teams

It took two Game 163s, but the National League playoff picture is finally settled. The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers claimed their division tiebreakers on Monday, winning the NL Central and West, respectively. The losers of those games -- the Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies -- will face off in the wild-card game Tuesday, with the winner of that contest bound for Milwaukee for Games 1 and 2 of the Division Series.

Federer focusing on future with new sponsor Uniqlo

Roger Federer said on Tuesday his decision to end a 20-year association with Nike and embark on a new chapter with Uniqlo was influenced by the Japanese clothing company's commitment to stay with him long after his playing days are over. While no financial details have been announced, media reports have said the new deal would be worth around $30 million a year, compared with the $10 million a year agreement Federer had with Nike.

FLM All 32: Team-by-team NFL notes

AFC East Buffalo Bills: Rookie quarterback Josh Allen showed his maturity in his analysis of -- and shouldered much of the blame for -- the Bills' 22-0 loss Sunday to the Packers at Lambeau Field. "I thought our defence went out and played really well, especially in the second half. They kept us in it for the most part and they really gave us a chance. They forced two turnovers, and myself, I gave it back three times. That's not complementary football. You can't win ... it's not easy to win doing that type of stuff. I have to do better. The offence has to do better and it starts with me. Learning from this experience that I had here. That's a tough defence. It's a tough place to play here. Whenever you have a quarterback (Aaron Rodgers) like that, you can't give it back to him and that's what we did today."

Nevada woman sues soccer star Ronaldo for alleged sexual assault

A Nevada woman has sued Cristiano Ronaldo and is participating in a police investigation of the global soccer star for an alleged rape at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009, according to a complaint filed by her lawyer. Lawyers for Ronaldo, one of the world's best-known athletes, on Friday threatened to sue a German magazine that published the accusation.

Report: Koepka's shot costs spectator an eye

An errant tee shot hit by Brooks Koepka at the Ryder Cup on Friday hit a female spectator who said she lost sight in her right eye. "It happened so fast, I didn't feel any pain when I was hit," Corine Remande, 49, told AFP. "I didn't feel like the ball had struck my eye and then I felt the blood start to pour. The scan on Friday confirmed a fracture of the right eye socket and an explosion of the eyeball."

Osaka becomes the third player to secure WTA Finals berth

U.S. Open champion Naomi Osaka has become the third player to secure a berth at the season-ending WTA Finals later this month after the 20-year-old from Japan amassed enough points in the Race to Singapore to qualify for the eight-woman event. Osaka stunned Serena Williams in straight sets to claim her and Japan's first ever Grand Slam title in New York last month and she backed that up with a run to the final at the Pan Pacific Open to all but ensure she would make her debut in Singapore.

Steelers running back Bell on Thomas injury: 'I'll ... be the bad guy'

Four prominent NFL players said they wouldn't report to training camp this summer without a new contract. Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams got one. Khalil Mack forced a trade to the Chicago Bears and signed a lucrative contract extension. Earl Thomas showed up at the 11th hour, just before the Seattle Seahawks opened the season, not happy to be there. And Le'Veon Bell remains AWOL from the Pittsburgh Steelers, saying he won't sign his franchise tag and won't risk injury on the brink of free agency.
