The defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors will take caution with forwarding Draymond Green despite a "clean" MRI on his sore left knee.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters Wednesday that Green will be held out of the team's preseason game against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night in Seattle.
"Draymond did not practice today and he won't play in Seattle," Kerr said. "Just being careful. He still had a little inflammation this morning. The MRI was good, it was clean, so not any major long-term concern. But just trying to be smart."
Green had the injury surface following a scrimmage at practice Monday. He has missed practice the past two days as a result of the ailment.
Green, 28, averaged 11.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.3 assists in 70 games last season.
"He'll go on the trip with us," Kerr said. "We'll see if he practices (Thursday). We're going to practice before the flight, and then no shootaround Friday, and he won't play Friday night."
Golden State begins the 2018-19 regular season against the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 16.
