Police seizes illegal firecrackers worth Rs 15 lakh

The police on Sunday seized illegal firecrackers worth over Rs 15 lakh from the residence of a businessman here in the district.

Acting on a tip-off, officials raided the businessman's residence at Raikatpara locality and seized the firecrackers that allegedly would have produced noise beyond the permissible limit, police said.

The room where the firecrackers were stored was sealed. Police said the businessman was absconding.
