Punjab: Policeman shot, gets injured by youth near college

A policeman was shot at and injured by a youth near the main gate of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) here Monday, police said.
Two youths who were on a motorcycle were signalled to stop at a check-post near the DMCH by constable Davinder Singh, the police said.
The two were asked to produce papers pertaining to the vehicle following which an argument ensued between the duo and Singh, they said.
Leaving their motorcycle on the scene, the two fled from the spot and when Singh chased them, one of the two youths opened fire, the police said.
Singh somehow managed to arrest one of the two accused persons while the other person escaped.
The constable was rushed to a nearby hospital, the police said, adding that a probe into the matter was underway.
