Following is a summary of current sports news briefs.

McCarthy: Packers need Crosby to make kicks

Mason Crosby had one of the worst games in league history as a kicker on Sunday, but he's not going anywhere -- despite costing the Packers in a big way at Detroit. "We have to convert those kicks," Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told the media Monday. "He's a proven highly successful kicker, and I believe in him but he's got to make those kicks. It's a different game at halftime (if he makes that three first-half) kicks."

NFL notebook: Ajayi (possible torn ACL) goes on IR

The Philadelphia Eagles placed running back Jay Ajayi on injured reserve Monday, shortly before several outlets reported he has a season-ending torn an anterior cruciate ligament. It's unclear when the injury occurred, but NFL Network reported Ajayi tore the ligament Sunday while pass protecting during Philadelphia's 23-21 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and played through it. The report adds Ajayi will have surgery Thursday, and the belief is the ACL is the only torn ligament.

Acuna's slam helps Braves edge Dodgers, extend NLDS

Freddie Freeman hit a tiebreaking homer leading off the sixth inning after the Los Angeles Dodgers had come back from a five-run deficit, and the host Atlanta Braves stayed alive in the National League Division Series with a 6-5 victory in Game 3 on Sunday night. Rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a grand slam to climax a five-run second inning for the Braves, but the Dodgers fought back thanks in part to homers by Chris Taylor and Max Muncy.

Kyrgios attracts more scrutiny from officials, says Woodbridge

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios' previous outbursts and bad behaviour have meant that umpires are probably keeping a closer eye on him than his opponents, according to compatriot Todd Woodbridge. The 23-year-old Kyrgios was involved in a row with French official Damien Dumusois during his shock first-round loss to American qualifier Bradley Klahn at the Shanghai Masters on Monday.

Nevada commission to file complaints on Nurmagomedov, McGregor

In the aftermath of the brawl that followed Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC 229 victory over Conor McGregor on Saturday in Las Vegas, the Nevada State Athletic Commission plans to file complaints against both fighters. Commission chairman Anthony Marnell told ESPN on Monday that the board is investigating the Saturday fracas.

Smart, Smith fined for an on-court altercation

An on-court scuffle between Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart and Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith has led to $40,000 in fines. The incident, for which Smart was assessed a technical foul and ejected, occurred with 3 minutes, 38 seconds remaining in the first quarter of the Cavaliers' 113-102 win over the Celtics at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Saturday night.

NFL roundup: Rams, Chiefs improve to 5-0

Todd Gurley rushed for three touchdowns as the Los Angeles Rams remained undefeated with a 33-31 victory against the host Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in a game involving six lead changes. Cairo Santos kicked a 39-yard field goal with 6:05 remaining to provide Los Angeles the final margin of victory. The Rams (5-0) opened up a three-game lead in the NFC West over the second-place Seahawks (2-3), who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

FLM All 32: Team-by-team NFL notes

AFC EAST Buffalo Bills: On a tough game day for NFL kickers, the Bills' Stephen Hauschka was a star on Sunday. His 46-yard attempt on the game's final play was good, giving the Bills a 13-12 home victory over Tennessee. "It was a good kick. It wasn't the best one of the year, but it was good and it got the job done," he said. "It's a situation where you know it's an important kick. Obviously, you're going to be excited about it. I want that opportunity. So when I'm out there, I just try and put a good swing on it. That's all you can do. I don't think there's anybody that's not going to feel any excitement about a kick like that, right?" His teammates have faith in him. "He kicks a 100-yard field goal, I probably think he can make it," safety Jordan Poyer said of Hauschka. "He's the best kicker in the league, hands down. So much confidence from us when he's out there kicking, no matter where he's kicking from."

Brees becomes NFL's all-time passing leader

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees broke the NFL's all-time passing mark on Monday, eclipsing Peyton Manning's 71,940 career yards in the Saints' game against the Washington Redskins. Brees entered the game needing 201 yards through the air to set the mark and accomplished the feat in the second quarter when he flung a pass down the sideline for a 62-yard touchdown to Tre'Quan Smith.

Mavericks fire team photographer amid harassment allegations

The Dallas Mavericks fired longtime team photographer Danny Bollinger after allegations of sexual harassment, the Dallas Morning News reported Monday, citing multiple sources. According to the report, the Mavericks began investigating Bollinger two weeks ago, a few days after the release of a 43-page report that culminated a seven-month investigation into allegations of sexual harassment in the team's business offices. The probe found evidence of "disturbing and heartbreaking" workplace misconduct by current and former members of the Mavericks' organization, the NBA revealed.
