Two men were arrested for allegedly supplying illicit liquor in separate cases in Delhi, police said Friday.

The accused were identified as Afsar, resident of Vijay Vihar, Delhi and Kamlesh (24), resident of Karampura, Delhi, they added.

On October 26, Afsar was apprehended from Wazirabad Flyover and 215 cartons of illicit liquor was recovered from his possession, AK Singla, deputy commissioner of police (outer) said.

Similarly on November 3, Kamlesh was arrested and a canter vehicle carrying 340 cartoons of illicit liquor was seized. The liquor was for sale in Haryana only, Singla added.

Total 555 cartoons of illicit liquor worth Rs 50 lakh was recovered, he added. PTI NIT


Youth held on extortion charge

New Delhi, Nov 9 (PTI) A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly threatening and extorting money from people in southeast Delhi, police said Friday.

The accused was identified as Junaid, resident of Jamia Nagar, they added. On Thursday, police laid a trap near Abul Fazal Enclave and at around 8:45 pm Junaid was arrested, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said.

In order to earn quick money, Junaid joined hands with local land grabbers and started threatening people and extorting money from them, the DCP said, adding that a country-made pistol, and live cartridges were recovered from his possession.

Police said Junaid had gone to Dubai couple of years ago for a job as a driver in a transport company, but he did not earn much and returned to India, Biswal added. PTI NIT


2 held for stealing motorcycles

New Delhi, Nov 9 (PTI) Two men were arrested for allegedly stealing motorcycles in West Delhi, police said Friday.

The accused were identified as Jasveer (25) and Arun (25), residents of Tilak Nagar, they added.

On Thursday, The two accused were arrested from Chander Vihar area. Five mobile phones, one motorcycle and four surgical blades were recovered from their possession, they added.
