Durant gets the sell from Warriors at new arena

Updated: 10-11-2018 13:29 IST

The NBA champion Golden State Warriors would love to keep Kevin Durant in the fold when he becomes a free agent at the end of this season, so the team spent part of Friday showing the former MVP what he has to look forward to if he stays.

The nine-time All-Star forward was given a tour, along with some sponsors and members of the local media, of the new arena the Warriors are building to replace Oracle Arena, their home for the last 47 years.

"My imagination is going wild right now with possibilities," Durant told reporters as he walked around the Chase Center in shorts, heavy boots with high socks and a construction hat.

It is just the latest step in Golden State's push to keep the star, who has won NBA Finals MVP awards in each of the past two years in helping the Warriors to back-to-back championships.

The Warriors' latest move in their all-out push to woo its current starting forward seems to have impressed, though Durant would not comment if he was going to stay when the time came.

"I'm thinking about a lot of points being scored," he said. "The fans are going to love it."

The Warriors have had some of their other players take a tour, but this was the first time Durant had seen the facility up close.
