Forwards Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur and a protected 2019 first-round pick were packaged in a salary dump by the Denver Nuggets in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

According to the Denver Post, the move helps the Nuggets, who agreed to a one-year deal with point guard Isaiah Thomas on Thursday night, get under the luxury tax.

In the deal, the Nets agreed to take on Faried and Arthur for the upcoming season at a combined $21 million in salary.

Brooklyn receives a first-round pick in the 2019 draft if the Nuggets are not selecting in the top 12 picks.

Isaiah Whitehead, a 23-year-old point guard who attended Seton Hall, goes back to Denver in the deal.

Brooklyn on Thursday cleared salary cap space by unloading the contract of Jeremy Lin in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks.

It was the second salary-clearing trade of the offseason for Denver, which previously shipped Wilson Chandler to the Philadelphia 76ers. Chandler, 31, is scheduled to make $12.8 million next season.
