Doctors from Apollo perform brain and spine tumour surgery with Zambian specialists

A team of expert doctors from Apollo Hospitals Group, India's leading unified healthcare provider, and their Zambian counterparts, yesterday did two complicated surgeries at Lusaka's University Teaching Hospital (UTH) during their present visit to the city.

This follows an extensive and comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) entered into earlier this year by the Ministry of Health of Zambia, and Apollo during recent the state visit of the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind to Zambia.

Dr Sudhir Tyagi had operated two surgeries, and he is a famous neurosurgeon from India, New Delhi, who operated along with Dr Kachinga Sachizya, Zambia's popular neurosurgeon at UTH.

Apollo Hospitals Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Dr Harinder Singh stated experts from India's Apollo Hospital and Zambia done complex brain and spine tumour surgery via the latest technique on Zambian patients, the technique has not been utilized in Zambia before.

He admired the Ministry of Health's concerted endeavour of making available surgical services in the country and fabricate a self-sustaining health system in Zambia.

Mr Mohan exposed that Apollo Hospitals is desirous to extend more such Public- Private Partnership (PPP) programmes in the provision of advanced healthcare between the two countries.
