Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson has at least two fans despite winning just one game in two full NFL seasons. But they are important fans: team owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam, who expect better things to arrive quickly.

"I think we will see the real Hue Jackson," Jimmy Haslam told reporters at a news conference Saturday before the Browns' practice in Berea, Ohio, southwest of Cleveland.

"He has good quarterbacks, he has some skill players, he has a veteran offensive line -- now, we have to figure out left tackle -- and three really good (running) backs and a good defence," Haslam said.

The Browns went 0-16 last season, only the second time since the NFL went to a 16-game regular season that a team went winless. The other was the Detroit Lions in 2008.

Haslam also praised Jackson's decision to relinquish the duties of offensive coordinator. The Browns brought in Todd Haley, who spent six seasons in that role with one of Cleveland's AFC North rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"I think this will be the first opportunity Hue will have to do what we know he can do as head coach as a leader. Even though Todd will be calling all of the shots on offence, I think Hue will obviously have some impact there like he will defend. We are excited to see it."

The Browns used their first-round pick, the first overall pick, in the 2018 NFL Draft to select quarterback Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma.

The Browns also traded for former Buffalo Bills starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor.
