China's producer price index (PPI) rose 3.6 per cent year-on-year in September, slowing from the previous month's 4.1 per cent gain, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Tuesday.
Analysts polled by Reuters had expected producer inflation would cool again to a 3.5 per cent rate last month amid slackening economic momentum and an escalating trade conflict with the United States.
The consumer price index (CPI)- a gauge of prices of goods and services- increased 2.5 per cent in September compared with a year earlier, which is still within policymaker's comfort zone of the 3 per cent annual target.
That was bang in line with expectations, though slightly up from August's 2.3 per cent gain.
