MTV reboots 'The Real World' series on Facebook in studio push

Viewers may finally be able to vote the next Puck, the notoriously obnoxious housemate of "MTV's The Real World," off the show. The iconic MTV reality series, which ran for 32 seasons between 1992 and 2017, will return as three interactive series on Facebook in the United States, Mexico and Thailand early next year, MTV will announce on Wednesday at Mipcom, the annual television industry trade show in Cannes, France.

Spotify takes minor stake in music distributor DistroKid

Music streaming service Spotify said on Wednesday it had taken a stake in DistroKid, a distribution service that allows recording artists to upload music across online stores and streaming platforms including Spotify's biggest rival, Apple Music. Spotify revealed the move in a blog post but did not give a dollar amount, saying only that it was "a passive minority investment." Spotify declined to comment on the size of the stake and other financial details of the deal when asked by Reuters.

Roseanne character dies of opioid overdose as 'The Conners' take over

One of television's best-known families returned on Tuesday without its matriarch, as the character of feisty Roseanne Conner was killed off through an accidental opioid overdose. Comedy series "The Conners," featuring all the main characters in the blue-collar family from "Roseanne" except for its star and creator, Roseanne Barr, had its premiere on Disney-owned channel ABC, five months after "Roseanne" was cancelled following a racist tweet by Barr.
