The St. Louis Cardinals announced on Sunday they have claimed right-hander Tyson Ross off waivers from the San Tyson Padres.

The Cardinals said Ross will join the team in Miami in time for a series against the Marlins next week.

Ross, 31, has started 22 games for the Padres this season, going 6-9 with a 4.45 ERA.

He is 41-65 with a 3.99 ERA in 187 career appearances (134 starts) in nine major league seasons with the Oakland Athletics, Padres (two stints) and Texas Rangers. Ross was an All-Star in 2014 when he won a career-best 13 games.

According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, Ross is owed just over $500,000 for the rest of the season.
