Bandh observed in Nandurbar to condemn attack on BJP MP's car by Maratha quota activists

A bandh was observed today in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district to condemn the attack on the car of local BJP MP Heena Gavit, allegedly by Maratha quota activists yesterday.

Commercial establishments, shops, schools, and colleges remained shut in response to the bandh called by some tribal organizations, a police official said.

The car of Gavit, who represents tribal-dominated Nandurbar Lok Sabha constituency, was damaged outside the district collector's office in Dhule in north Maharashtra by a group of 15-20 people.

Gavit had escaped unhurt in the attack. Protesters took out a morcha today on the office of Nandurbar district collector, said the official attached to the district police control room.

In Dhule, a rasta roko protest was held, police said. Heavy police bandobast was in force across Nandurbar city, around 200 km away from Nashik, police said.

The shutdown was observed in Nandurbar city and talukas like Akrani, Akkalkuwa, Taloda, Navapur, and Shahada, police said.
