The Toronto Blue Jays placed third baseman Yangervis Solarte on the 10-day disabled list on Sunday, one day after he departed a 3-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays with a right oblique injury.

Highly touted prospect Danny Jansen, a catcher, was called up from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Jansen is batting .275 with 12 home runs and 58 RBIs in 88 games with Buffalo.

Solarte was injured during a second-inning at-bat and left with a 2-2 count. He swung at and missed a pitch from Tampa Bay right-hander Ryne Stanek and fell to a knee.

Trainers examined Solarte, and the Blue Jays removed him from the contest.

Richard Urena replaced Solarte and finished the strikeout. Urena could replace Solarte at third, though the addition of Jansen also means Russell Martin could spend some time there.

Solarte, 31, is batting .233 with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs in 111 games with the Blue Jays this season, his first in Toronto.
