The African Development Bank Group, through its Regional Office for Development and Service Delivery for Central Africa (DRGC), invites you to the workshop on the restitution of the regional study on the sustainable industrialization of Africa. Wood sector in the countries of the Congo Basin, which takes place on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Libreville, Gabon.

Chaired by Khaled Sherif, Vice President of the Bank in charge of Regional Development, Regional Integration and Service Delivery, this workshop will also be marked by the presence of the ministers responsible for the forest economy of Central African countries.

It will present the conclusions of this important study, which provides a rigorous diagnosis of the forest sector of Central Africa and proposes a strategic action plan for the development of the sector by 2030. With this study, the objective of the Bank is to respond pragmatically to the strategic challenge of the industrialization of the timber sector in Central Africa, to make it a real driver of the transformation of the economies of the region. This ambition is all the more justified because it is urgent, in a context of declining oil prices, to build diversified and more resilient economies. Mr. Sherif and the ministers will also visit the Gabon Special Economic Zone in Nkok.

The return of the study will be preceded, from 10 to 12 September 2018, by regional consultations on the new Regional Integration Strategy Paper (RISP) for Central Africa, for the period 2018-2025.

The African Development Bank's mission is to promote Africa's economic development and reduce poverty on the continent. To continue to fulfill its mission in regional member countries, the Bank has established five regional service delivery centers, including Central Africa.
