The political slugfest over the CCTV camera project intensified today with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying that the BJP and the Congress will find it difficult to "distribute booze and money in elections" if these cameras are installed in Delhi.

The AAP supremo also questioned the BJP and the Congress over their opposition to the project. Kejriwal's party colleague Raghav Chadha claimed that a BJP leader said that the government at the Centre had given "express instructions" to the Delhi Lt Governor to allegedly stall the CCTV camera project of the Delhi government.

The chief minister reiterated the claim made by Chadha.

"If CCTV cameras are installed in Delhi, BJP and Congress will face difficulty in distributing booze and money in the elections. A BJP leader yesterday told that LG has been asked to stop installation of CCTV cameras till Lok Sabha elections," he tweeted.

In a meeting with officials and PWD Minister Satyendar Jain yesterday, Kejriwal had given a go-ahead to the project and directed for bringing a cabinet note on it within a week.

The ruling AAP led by Kejriwal has also been accusing Lt Governor Anil Baijal of attempting to "stall" the project that was meant to boost women safety and improve law and order in the city.

"BJP and Congress should tell why are they opposing CCTV cameras," Kejriwal asked in a tweet.

BJP's Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta dubbed Kejriwal as the "largest machine of manufacturing lies" and challenged him to reveal the name of the BJP leader who allegedly claimed that the LG was directed to stall the CCTV camera project till the Lok Sabha polls slated for next year.

"CM has become the largest machine for manufacturing lies. AAP leaders are also blindly following him in his trail of lies and deceit. He should reveal the name of the BJP leader which exists in his imagination only," Gupta said.
