Gabon gets 4 bn FCFA investment in construction of 8 hybrid solar power plants

Ausar Energie, a subsidiary of the French giant Engie, has signed with Gabon on August 6, 2018 in Libreville, two agreements on the construction in eight cities of the country, of 8 hybrid solar power plants, and renting these infrastructures to the Gabonese energy and water company (SEEG), as per New Gabon.

According to Franck Thierry Tannery, CEO of Ausar Energie, these infrastructures, whose cumulative power will be 2.8 megawatts, will be part of the second agreement, leased for a period of 15 years to SEEG.

"This project, the construction of which will start in a few weeks, will contribute to the Republic of Gabon's resolute policy of using renewable energies, solar or hydroelectric, to strengthen the country's energy capacities", explains the CEO of Ausar Energie quoted by the local press.

The project will cost 4 billion CFA francs, will allow the cities of Ovan, Makoukou, Booue, Minvoul, Ndjole, Bitam, Medouneu and Mekambo, mainly located in the provinces of Middle Ogooue, Ogooue-Ivindo and Woleu-Ntem, for a total cost of nearly 4 billion CFA francs, aims to reduce fuel consumption in the thermal power plants operated by SEEG in these localities.

In all, the agreement initialed with the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations will make it possible to achieve an annual saving of 1 million liters of fuel and reduce by 30 percent the expenses related to the production of the electric power dealer.
