World Bank approves INR 6,000 cr Atal Bhujal Yojana for sustainable management of groundwater

The funding pattern is 50:50 between Government of India and the World Bank. The scheme is to be implemented over a period of five years from 2018-19 to 2022-23.

The World Bank has approved Atal Bhujal Yojana (ABHY), a Rs.6000 crore scheme, for sustainable management of groundwater.

The funding pattern is 50:50 between Government of India and the World Bank. The scheme is to be implemented over a period of five years from 2018-19 to 2022-23.

The identified over-exploited and water-stressed areas for the implementation of the scheme fall in the States of Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

This information was given by Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
