Bears sign free agent RB Davis, cut OL Johnson
Knile Davis has a chance to earn an NFL return after the Chicago Bears signed the free-agent running back on Saturday night.
Davis, a third-round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013, didn't play at all last season after failing to make the Pittsburgh Steelers roster.
In his first two seasons with the Chiefs, Davis rushed for 705 yards and 10 touchdowns. However, he rushed just 28 times for 72 yards in 14 games in 2015.
Davis was traded to the Green Bay Packers, but appeared in just two games before he was waived. He eventually wound up with the Chiefs again, but saw little action apart from kick returns.
The 26-year-old Davis has 73 career kick returns, averaging 26.8 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
The Bears had room to add Davis after cutting offensive lineman Kaleb Johnson earlier in the day.
