The St. Louis Cardinals activated right-hander Carlos Martinez to start Monday night's game against the Colorado Rockies, the team announced.

Martinez (right oblique strain) was on the 10-day disabled list. He last pitched on July 19 when he allowed five earned runs in five innings while losing to the Chicago Cubs.

St. Louis also placed right-hander Luke Gregerson (shoulder) on the 10-day DL, optioned left-hander Tyler Webb to Triple-A Memphis and added lefty Chasen Shreve to the active roster.

Shreve was acquired with right-hander Giovanny Gallegos from the New York Yankees on Saturday in exchange for Triple-A first baseman Luke Voit and international cap space. Shreve was 2-2 with a 4.26 ERA in 40 appearances for the Yankees.

The 26-year-old Martinez is 6-6 with a 3.39 ERA in 17 starts this season. The two-time All-Star has struck out 89 batters in 95 2/3 innings but has hit a whopping 11 hitters with pitches.

Gregerson, 34, has a 7.11 ERA in 17 appearances this season, while Webb tossed two scoreless innings in his lone appearance with the Cardinals. Webb was recently claimed off waivers from the San Diego Padres.
