Spanish Tourism Contributed 5.7 percent to GDP in 2017
The tourism sector contributed 172,900 million euros to the Spanish economy in 2017
According to a local newspaper, the tourism sector contributed 172,900 million euros to the Spanish economy in 2017 -including direct, indirect and induced effects-, 5.7% more than in 2016, representing 14.9% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to the annual report of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
For Spain, the total contribution of tourism to the world economy last year amounted to 8.3 trillion dollars (6.7 trillion euros), 4.6% above 2016, which represents 10.4% of global GDP.
It indicates the increasing trend from past few years and it has reached the value of around 153 billion euros in 2015.
