Art is a powerful form of dialogue intended to make us feel, understand, think, discuss and change. Today more than two billion people live without safe water and twice as many without safely managed sanitation.

The Clean Water Here Global Photography Exhibition shows twelve powerful photographs showing how people relate to water and sanitation.

As a contribution to World Water Day, coordinated by UN-Water, the photos have been curated by 1x, the largest online photo gallery following a call for photographers around the world to send their best photos on Sustainable Development Goal 6 "Ensure availability and sustainable management of safe water and sanitation for all."

Hundreds of photos were received and for the exhibition twelve of them were selected by world-renowned jurors Martin Schoeller, Kristen Ashburn and Robert Clark.

The exhibition opened on World Water Day 22 March, in New York where it was displayed in the United Nations Visitors Center before being set up at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Headquarters in Paris.
