ISRO to launch GSAT-6A satellite: All You Need To Know

The Indian Space Research Organization has started the countdown activities for the final launch of GSAT-6A, Indian communication satellite yesterday at 13:56 Hrs IST.
GSAT-6A Mission is scheduled to be launched today, March 29, 2018 at 16:56 Hrs (IST) from SDSC SHAR, Shriharikota.
GSAT-6A is a high power S-band communication satellite configured around I-2K bus. The mission life of spacecraft planned is about 10 years.The cost of the 2-tonne satellite is estimated to be rupees 270 crores. The satellite's capacity can also be used for strategic and social applications.
The satellite will also provide a platform for developing technologies such as demonstration of 6 m S-Band Unfurlable Antenna, handheld ground terminals and network management techniques that could be useful in satellite-based mobile communication applications. GSAT-6A is scheduled to be launched by GSLV-F08.
The GSAT-6A is similar to GSAT-6, the satellite that was conceived in 2005 to provide entertainment and information services to consumers and vehicles through digital multimedia consoles and multimedia mobile phones.
