All GCC countries to attend Riyadh summit - Kuwaiti minister

Updated: 19-11-2018 01:13 IST
All countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will attend its next summit, in the Saudi capital Riyadh, Kuwait's deputy foreign minister was quoted as saying by Al-Rai newspaper on Sunday.

"This is a gesture of optimism," Khalid al-Jarallah said.

Last year Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain sent ministers or deputy prime ministers to the annual event, rather than heads of state. The countries and non-GCC member Egypt have imposed economic, diplomatic and trade sanctions on GCC member Qatar in a dispute that began in June 2017.
