The San Antonio Spurs have assigned first-round draft pick Lonnie Walker to
the NBA G League, his first step back from a right medial meniscus tear.
He will play with the Austin Spurs, who are scheduled to practice in San
Antonio from Sunday through Wednesday, the team said.
Walker sustained the injury on Oct. 5 in a preseason game against Detroit. He
underwent surgery days later and was expected to miss six to eight weeks.
The Spurs made Walker, a Miami product, the No. 18 overall pick in the NBA
draft in June. He turns 20 next month.
