Jaguars OL Norwell carted to locker room with ankle injury
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Andrew Norwell was helped off the field and carted to the locker room after injuring his ankle Sunday in a loss against the Buffalo Bills.
Norwell sustained the injury while he was pass blocking on the first play of the fourth quarter. He could not put any weight on his injured leg and did not return to the game.
The Jaguars signed Norwell to a five-year, $66.5 million contract during the offseason with $30 million guaranteed. The Ohio State alum went undrafted but emerged as a surprise standout for the Carolina Panthers over the previous four seasons.
Backup Chris Reed replaced Norwell at left guard. The Jaguars' offensive line already has been depleted with knee injuries to left tackle Cam Robinson and center Brandon Linder.
